A few weeks ago I asked for your tips and got lots of them, so first of all thanks for your help! I incorporated many suggestions from there and the Argentina Master Thread on DDF for trip planning. -My wife and I and our 10 month old son have just arrived home on Wednesday afternoon from a week-long trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. A city with lots to see, incredible Ice Cream and Dulce de Leche baked goods, and home to one of the best kosher restaurants I’ve ever been to. Here are some of my trip notes:Flight: -I used 125,000 AA miles for my wife’s First Class ticket from Cleveland to Buenos Aires. -For myself I used 4,500 BA miles to go from Cleveland to New York in coach, 75,000 BA miles for JFK to Buenos Aires in first, 75,000 BA miles for Buenos Aires to Miami in first, and 7,500 BA miles for Miami to Cleveland in coach, all on the same flights as my wife. -To book Rafi as a lap child when using AA miles would mean having to pay 10% of the regular $10,000 … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: Buenos Aires, Argentina

I may be a religious Jew, but that doesn’t mean I’m satisfied limiting my travels to the same boring spots every time, just in order to have kosher restaurants. My most memorable trips aren’t to Miami, LA, or Cancun. They’re the ones to Tasmania, Palau, Svalbard, Dubai, Kobe, Lofoten, Florionopolis, Banff, Iguazu Falls, Kwajalein, Guam, and the Whitsundays Islands. But I also don’t care to live off of Tuna and Peanut Butter. I’ve traveled to those places with double sealed gourmet kosher meals that I have warmed up in hotels, vacation homes, etc. Sure, I have incurable wanderlust vice. But I also love doing mitzvos (good deeds) and … [Read more...] about Antarctica Trip Notes Part 1: Buenos Aires+Planning And Positioning For The Adventure Of A Lifetime
As a Canadian, I love the duty free store. Heck, sometimes cheap booze is one of the main reasons I'll pop across the border. But if you're flying, you don't always have the time to pick up a bottle when you're running between airport terminals and trying to keep track of all your luggage – and that's where pre-ordering can come in handy. Click to shop @ Air Canada Boutique Air Canada now gives passengers on select flights the option to pre-order duty free items. And if that sounds too good to be true, I'll admit that I was a little skeptical at first. So I took a closer look at the process and decided to put together a guide to explain it all. Here, you'll find instructions for ordering duty free items online, info on exactly who qualifies for pre-orders and a breakdown of the perks you might get for shopping a little early. How to pre-order duty free items online To start, you must have an upcoming international flight with Air Canada to order duty free items. That means … [Read more...] about How to Pre-Order Duty Free Items @ Air Canada

Racing through my mind was whether they had put 2 and 2 together and realized that the bag they told me couldn’t be checked to Ushuaia was found going to Ushuaia. I was not looking forward to spending time in an Argentine prison over this… On the tarmac we walked to a station with an X-Ray machine where several of my checked bags were waiting. The officer there said that they were tipped off that there may be … [Read more...] about Antarctica Trip Notes Part 2: Flying To End Of The World And Having The Southernmost Chanukah Party In Ushuaia

Here’s How I Burned 1,375,570 Miles In 2017, How Did You Stack Up? Some guys are great at recording all of their trips and the value of each mile burned. I’m not that precise, but I went back several years, tracked down my flights taken, and posted them on DDF for 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. In 2018 I burned through some 3,023,450 miles and points. As my family grows I find it easier to burn through miles quicker than ever. Don’t cry for my miles though, I’m still sitting on 8 figures of unredeemed miles and they’re not earning any interest just sitting there. If you have them, then use them!
