If I want to stay in a 5 star Park Hyatt in the Maldives, Melbourne, NYC, Paris, Sydney, or Tokyo that would cost over $1,000/night, I can instantly transfer 25-30K points to Hyatt to do that, a value of up to 6 cents per point. If I need a one-way flight from Cleveland (or Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Montreal, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Toronto, etc) to NYC that can cost $500 each way, I can instantly transfer 7.5K points to British Airways to book a short-haul on American with no last minute booking fees. Or if American doesn’t have availability I can instantly transfer 10K points to United for their short-haul award. That’s a value of up to 7 cents per point. This property was a Four Seasons until last year when they switched to the Hyatt flag. Although it hasn’t been renovated in some time, the property feels much more grand than the Hyatt Huntington Beach. It doesn’t look anything like the other Park Hyatt properties that I have been to in Melbourne, Paris, Sydney, or Zurich, but then again none of those are resort style properties. Start this road early, try to leave your hotel by 7 in the morning so that you have time to make frequent stops to gawk at waterfalls, go on amazing hikes, and make it back so that you’re not driving on the road after dark. A convertible is perfect for this drive. Remember that the point of this drive isn’t to get to Hana, there’s nothing there! So don’t tailgate the car ahead of you and let the car behind you pass so you can drive slow and take in the heavenly scenery. … [Read more...] about DansMeals: Hawaii For The Kosher Traveler.
