Never Miss Another Deal - Follow DansDeals on FacebookIt seems like a big company reports a data breach every other day. Last week I wrote about the Equifax data breach settlement. Capital One announced today that they experienced a breach that affected 100 million people in the US. 33 year old Paige Thompson has been arrested in connection with the breach. Capital One says that they believe it is unlikely that she disseminated the data or used it for fraud. No credit card account numbers or log-in credentials were compromised Over 99 percent of Social Security numbers were not compromised. Compromised information included data that Capital One collects at the time it receives credit card applications: Names, addresses, zip codes/postal codes, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, and self-reported income. Credit scores, credit limits, balances, payment history, contact information Fragments of transaction data from a total of 23 days during 2016, 2017 and 2018 About … [Read more...] about Step Right Up: Capital One Is The Latest To Report A Data Breach

Never Miss Another Deal - Follow DansDeals on FacebookCompanies just can’t seem to keep our data safe. As long as the penalties are nothing more than a slap on the wrist, that won’t change either. Doordash announced that users who joined on or before 4/5/18 have had their information stolen. I first wrote about DoorDash before 4/5/18, so check when you signed up, change your password, and as always, stay vigilant about checking your credit cards and credit report for fraud. … [Read more...] about Step Right Up: Doordash Is The Latest To Report A Data Breach

I had long wanted to fly on the all-business class flight from Newark to Singapore which was the longest flight in the world, a whopping 19 hours. With the glitch, I was able to use just 60K miles to fly from Cleveland to the Maldives via Newark and Singapore. I booked the W and stayed there for 2 nights. The overwater villa with a private pool was indescribably magical. Gazing at the stunning sunsets and and the star filled nights creates an amazing sense of serenity.
