Never Miss Another Deal - Follow DansDeals on FacebookLast night I noticed that a United award flight from Cleveland to LaGuardia was pricing at just 9.5K miles, when it should be 10K miles as a short-haul award. I searched other airports and sure enough, United has launched dynamically priced awards on many routes. In the long-run that’s probably a bad thing, but there are some bargains to be had. For now, there’s still the same price caps on saver and standard awards like before, there are just cheaper options on select dates and routes. That’s much better than Delta which eliminated award charts and now sells basic economy award tickets, but we’ll see where this all winds up. American also has “Web specials” with award pricing that is all over the board and tickets that don’t allow date changes and aren’t available to partner airlines: AA Web Special Pricing: United’s dynamic saver award pricing takes saver awards and drops … [Read more...] about United Launches Dynamically Priced Awards Starting At Just 5K Miles; Roundup Of Award Pricing On All Domestic Routes From NYC!

Follow my travels and more on Instagram @DansDeals The hottest plane ticket last year was for United flight 747 from San Francisco to Honolulu on November 7th. Premium cabin tickets sold out in minutes and coach sold out shortly after that. I grabbed 2 business class awards as soon as United announced in September that they would be holding a special final flight for their 747. I may not have been old enough to fly the Concorde, but I wasn’t going to miss this celebration. I have lots of fond 747 memories from childhood plane spotting, to first class cabins on airlines like Korean and Lufthansa, and to the amazing 747 trip I took with Rafi last year to San Francisco. United’s 747 is as iconic as they come, having flown its first flight from San Francisco to Honolulu back in 1970. No other airline will hold a 747 celebration like United. 47 years later … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: The Final United 747 Flight And 2 Days In Maui

I may be a religious Jew, but that doesn’t mean I’m satisfied limiting my travels to the same boring spots every time, just in order to have kosher restaurants. My most memorable trips aren’t to Miami, LA, or Cancun. They’re the ones to Tasmania, Palau, Svalbard, Dubai, Kobe, Lofoten, Florionopolis, Banff, Iguazu Falls, Kwajalein, Guam, and the Whitsundays Islands. But I also don’t care to live off of Tuna and Peanut Butter. I’ve traveled to those places with double sealed gourmet kosher meals that I have warmed up in hotels, vacation homes, etc. Sure, I have incurable wanderlust vice. But I also love doing mitzvos (good deeds) and … [Read more...] about Antarctica Trip Notes Part 1: Buenos Aires+Planning And Positioning For The Adventure Of A Lifetime
It's official. Earlier this week, two major Canadian airlines announced that it will now cost you a little bit more to check a bag. Both Air Canada and WestJet are raising their fees to $30 for the first checked bag (from $25) and $50 for a second bag (from $30). The new rates are already in effect, and the increased fees apply to the lowest fare classes with both airlines. Officially, the new fees apply as of Oct. 1 to domestic flights booked as early as last Friday and all US and international flights booked on or after this Tuesday. The new rates apply to all Air Canada flights departing on or after Oct. 5. All Air Canada economy flex and economy comfort fares still receive a free first checked bag, as do elite members and anyone who books a flight as part of an Air Canada vacations package. Members of the military (with valid ID) qualify for up to three free checked bags. For WestJet flights, these fees are waived for all WestJet Plus passengers, gold and silver rewards … [Read more...] about Air Canada, WestJet Increasing Checked Luggage Fees
