Never Miss Another Deal - Follow DansDeals on FacebookDan’s note: One of my duties on the #KosherAntarctica Cruise last month was calculating the daily zmanim and setting up our daily prayer schedule, our 10 Teves fast times, and most critically, our Shabbos schedule. As I noted previously, we needed to find a cruise that departed on a Monday and returned on a Thursday. We did find one cruise that met all of our parameters, but the timing of the cruise was not exactly ideal. It departed on the 8th day of Chanuka and it was over a fast day. The cruise was also over the Shabbos that immediately preceded the southern hemisphere’s summer solstice. That meant that we would run into additional halachic issues about Shabbos and prayer times as the latitude at which there would be no darkness is much farther north during the weeks in close proximity to the summer solstice. But if we wanted to go, this was our only tenable option. I spent many hours working … [Read more...] about Guest Post: Halachic Zmanim In Polar Regions On The Kosher Antarctica Cruise

It's that time of year again. With snow on the horizon, motorists across Canada will have to decide whether to invest in a set of winter tires, or stick with their summer tires and hope for the best. There are plenty of good reasons to make the switch before the big freeze. The treads and soft rubber used to produce winter tires make vehicles easier to handle in icy conditions (below 7 degrees centigrade), maximizing traction and keeping stopping distances to a minimum. So they reduce the risk of costly accidents, help you get around and generally allow you to get the most from your vehicle. When it comes to winter tires, Canadian drivers are starting to switch in huge numbers. According to the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada, usage rates leapt from 35 to 65 percent from 1998 to 2014. So it could be a good time to exchange your rock-hard summer tires for something more suitable for wintry weather. Guidelines and Regulations One thing to bear in mind when choosing winter tires … [Read more...] about What You Need to Know About Buying Winter Tires in Canada
I think I speak for everyone when I say I'd do just about anything to revitalize my skin – especially if it only took a few minutes. And one of the latest beauty crazes, jade rollers, promises to help do just that. Jade facial rollers have really been around for centuries, and there is evidence of them first appearing in Ancient China years before they popped up on your Instagram feed. But now that they've regained popularity, we thought it was worth taking a closer look at these magical little beauty tools. But before we dive in, let's clear up the big question first: What are jade rollers? While the design of each jade facial roller varies slightly, a typical jade roller is a small, beauty tool composed of a piece of smooth, cool jade that's attached to a handle. You simply roll the stone across clean skin in specific patterns and directions to help reduce puffiness and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In general, jade rolling is said to help improve circulation … [Read more...] about The Guide to Jade Facial Rollers: Do They Really Work?
American Express is a DansDeals.com advertiser. I’ve always been an advocate of using airline miles over proprietary points from banks. However the hits keep coming for airlines and the value of their miles. After gobbling up airlines like Airtran, Continental, Northwest, and USAirways, the remaining airlines have made it increasingly expensive to earn elite status, while reducing benefits at the same time. They have reduced hub service and capacity in order to raise airfares. They have stopped awarding miles for flights based on distance flown. Their cheapest fares will no longer include free carry-ons. They have all devalued their award charts, nearly doubling the cost of many awards: -United massively devalued their award chart in February 2014.-Delta removed their award charts from public view in February 2015. They have been stealthily making monthly devaluations since then, though their award availability has improved somewhat.-Southwest has made a number of devaluations to … [Read more...] about Are Bank Points Overtaking The Value Of Airline Miles? 2 Hybrid Cards Allow You To Lock In The Best Of Both Worlds
