Overall the flight was extremely enjoyable. The WiFi was fast and inexpensive, the seat was comfortable, the service was excellent, and the shower spa was phenomenal. There are better seats, beds, and service on some of the Asian first class cabins, but each has their own drawbacks and none feature a shower onboard. If not for the 7 hour delay and lack of communication about it, this flight would have been pretty darn close to perfect. … [Read more...] about Maldives Trip Notes Part 1: Flying Emirates Shower Class To Dubai

-Thursday, 12/27: We flew back on USAirways in Envoy class on an A330. The seats are very comfortable, though as a bed it’s pretty narrow. The footbed is also very narrow, though it seems that as on United, the bulkhead seats had bigger foot cutouts. The kosher food was from Stogel’s which is the absolute worst garbage in the air that you likely wouldn’t even eat if you were starving. One flight attendant refused to heat up our own food but another awesome flight attendant was happy to do so. All in all service was fine, but as with all US airlines will greatly vary based on the attitude of the flight attendant and the ones that work routes like Paris are the ones that have been around for decades too long. There are 4 seats across in business class and each seat has direct aisle access which is great. Downside to not having a suite? The french woman directly across the aisle from me was hacking and coughing for the entire flight … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: Singapore A380 Suites And 46 Hours In Paris

That night we were off to the Night Safari. Wildlife Reserves Singapore runs a world famous Zoo and a separate Night Safari park. What I had read is that the animals were much more free and open than at other zoos though at least at the Night Safari I didn’t really find that to be the case as they seemed mostly confined to me. We started with a tram ride tour of the park where we did see all kinds of nocturnal animals though the commentary was very heavy-handed on the environment. As we passed each animal we were told how our kids and grandkids may never see them as humans are destroying the earth, etc. And as we exited the tram we were told how the entire park may not exist in the future due to changing climates…it was all repeated a bit too much for me. Afterward we walked around the park and like the rest of Singapore, it is all very clean but that superficial feeling nags at you. I had expected more. … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: 2 Nights In Singapore And Back Home On A Korean A380
