Trip Report: United DO 2012 In Chicago
-Find more articles like this by clicking on the “Trip Notes” tab on top of the DansDeals banner at the top of this site. I flew last week to Chicago to experience the tail end of Star MegaDo 4. Hundreds of frequent flyer enthusiasts from forums like Flyertalk and Milepoint get together and fly around the world together and meet with various airline and hotel executives. Star of course refers to Star Alliance. A DO (pronounced like the word do or due) is simply a get-together while a MegaDo is a really big get together. Space to attend these events is always quite limited and there is a cost from $1,000 up to $5,000 depending on how much of the event you want to attend (domestic or international+domestic) and what class you’ll be sitting in on the plane. Participants were treated to flying a brand new United 787 Dreamliner among many other goodies. I was invited to attend the United portion of the DO in Chicago for free so that’s what I’ll talk about. … [Read more...] about Trip Report: United DO 2012 In Chicago

If wedding bells are in your future, first of all, congrats! And second, you might already be thinking about your wedding registry. Unless you're requesting presentation from your guests or holding a very small and intimate ceremony, a bridal registry is a good idea for a couple of reasons. Your guests have a ready-made list to shop from, and you can make sure you get gifts you actually want. Click here to create a wedding registry Now let me be upfront here. My wedding is in just over two weeks, and I haven't finished building my wedding registry yet. I know. My fiancé and I had a bit of an unconventional engagement, and we didn't bother with a bridal shower. We're also holding a really small wedding and didn't really plan for gifts. But when people started asking, I decided to whip up a last-minute registry, and Hudson's Bay was my first choice. The Bay does allow you to create registries for events other than weddings, so you can absolutely sign up for a housewarming gift … [Read more...] about The Bay Wedding Registry: What You Need to Know

I had long wanted to fly on the all-business class flight from Newark to Singapore which was the longest flight in the world, a whopping 19 hours. With the glitch, I was able to use just 60K miles to fly from Cleveland to the Maldives via Newark and Singapore. I booked the W and stayed there for 2 nights. The overwater villa with a private pool was indescribably magical. Gazing at the stunning sunsets and and the star filled nights creates an amazing sense of serenity. It wasn’t a matter of if, but when I’d be back. That opportunity came when DDF member beastieb discovered that you could book a $2,500/night … [Read more...] about Maldives Trip Notes Part 1: Flying Emirates Shower Class To Dubai
