This property was a Four Seasons until last year when they switched to the Hyatt flag. Although it hasn’t been renovated in some time, the property feels much more grand than the Hyatt Huntington Beach. It doesn’t look anything like the other Park Hyatt properties that I have been to in Melbourne, Paris, Sydney, or Zurich, but then again none of those are resort style properties. All of those properties managed to arrange for fabulous complimentary kosher breakfasts (and even kosher champagne and wine as an amenity!) as a Hyatt Diamond member, but the Park Hyatt Aviara didn’t want to hear of it. Our suite was humungous with a massive living room area, 2 full bathrooms, 2 balconies, etc. There are numerous pools and hot tubs spread throughout the … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: Our SoCal Quasi-Mileage Run…

Then I asked for her to give us PR-1 status on the upgrade list as displaced business class passengers for the flight to Palau, for which we were currently seated in coach as business class was full. She seemed flabbergasted that I knew their jargon, but insisted that she would have to remove us from our bulkhead seats in order to waitlist us for first class. Which is of course utter nonsense. After some back and forth consisting of me walking her through the process we did get our PR-1 status, though for some reason AJK was listed as #1 despite the fact that he doesn’t have United status and I was listed as #2 with my 1K status. Go figure. … [Read more...] about United Island Hopper Trip Notes Part 2: It’s Time To Hop!

That said, being assertive worked and I was finally given shower room. Mid-shampoo, when I heard final boarding call for our ANA flight back to New York, I jumped out of the shower and high-tailed it to the gate, which fortunately was only a couple minutes away.] … [Read more...] about United Island Hopper Trip Notes Part 4: Tokyo, Japan And Back Home In ANA First Class
