Last time I left off writing as we were in the air flying from Dallas to S. Francisco and using the in-flight wifi for free thanks to AMEX. We were supposed in First Class on British Airways where you can enjoy excellent Hermolis Kosher meals in their First Lounge in London. However the flight to London was canceled due to the minor snowstorm that managed to disrupt worldwide air travel for an entire week. At any rate we were re-routed via the Pacific. Normally you cannot change the routing on the infexible AA One World ticket, but when a flight is canceled all of the rules fall away. Unfortunately we didn’t have any kosher meals on any flights due to the last-minute flight changes. And then our flight from Dallas to S. Francisco was delayed by an hour so we didn’t arrive in time to even go to a restaurant in S. Francisco. Of course we traveled with plenty of food just for such an eventuality, so all was well. … [Read more...] about Round-The-World Trip Notes, Part 1: Khao Lak, Thailand.

Then I asked for her to give us PR-1 status on the upgrade list as displaced business class passengers for the flight to Palau, for which we were currently seated in coach as business class was full. She seemed flabbergasted that I knew their jargon, but insisted that she would have to remove us from our bulkhead seats in order to waitlist us for first class. Which is of course utter nonsense. After some back and forth consisting of me walking her through the process we did get our PR-1 status, though for some reason AJK was listed as #1 despite the fact that he doesn’t have United status and I was listed as #2 with my 1K status. Go figure. … [Read more...] about United Island Hopper Trip Notes Part 2: It’s Time To Hop!
We were the first to board the monstrosity known as the A380. Suites class consists of 8 single suites by the windows and 2 double suites in the middle, for a maximum capacity of 12 passengers. On our flight there was just 1 other Suites passenger, so we had very personal service from our own dedicated flight attendant. She went so far and beyond the call of duty I don’t even know where to begin. I’ve flown first class on airlines like Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, Swiss, Qantas, and more but the service on Singapore was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. From taking the coat off my back to placing slippers by our feet it was really something that has to be experienced to fully comprehend. My cups never fell empty of Seltzer or scotch, which alternated between Blue Label and Macallan Single Malt. There were 2 bathrooms for the 3 suites passengers and they were always scrubbed spotless. While there’s no shower … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: Singapore A380 Suites And 46 Hours In Paris
Ba Li Ice Cream: Dulce de Leche based Ice Cream is the specialty on this Tucuman Heladeria. Loaded with different goodies inside they’ll be happy to let you sample all of them. The Premium version and the granizada (chocolate pieces) are excellent. The Ice Cream cones themselves though had no flavor-stick with a cup. Cash only. … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: Buenos Aires, Argentina
We got to the airport about 65 minutes before the flight and the security agent positioned at the door before the US departures was not pleased with us. She chastised us for arriving at the airport so late and quizzed us on what we were doing that morning instead of showing up earlier to the airport! … [Read more...] about Trip Notes Rome: Veni, Vidi, Vici In 48 Hours; United Polaris First Class And Polaris Lounge Review
I’ve flown international first class on most American, European, and Asian airlines with my miles. I’d say that my favorite service on a flight has been from ANA and Singapore, their flight attendants are in another league and tend to your every need. My favorite first class bed and seat is on Cathay Pacific, though they are the only airline known to refuse to warm up your own kosher meal and their service isn’t quite as good as other Asian carriers. Lufthansa and Swiss have great first class lounges and ground services. Qantas‘ first class lounges are amazing as well. My favorite cabin was on TAM, where I was able to book the entire first class cabin/living room for my family with miles. And flying Singapore’s couples suites is pretty amazing as well. … [Read more...] about Maldives Trip Notes Part 1: Flying Emirates Shower Class To Dubai
