A few weeks ago I asked for your tips and got lots of them, so first of all thanks for your help! I incorporated many suggestions from there and the Argentina Master Thread on DDF for trip planning. -My wife and I and our 10 month old son have just arrived home on Wednesday afternoon from a week-long trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina. A city with lots to see, incredible Ice Cream and Dulce de Leche baked goods, and home to one of the best kosher restaurants I’ve ever been to. Here are some of my trip notes:Flight: -I used 125,000 AA miles for my wife’s First Class ticket from Cleveland to Buenos Aires. -For myself I used 4,500 BA miles to go from Cleveland to New York in coach, 75,000 BA miles for JFK to Buenos Aires in first, 75,000 BA miles for Buenos Aires to Miami in first, and 7,500 BA miles for Miami to Cleveland in coach, all on the same flights as my wife. -To book Rafi as a lap child when using AA miles would mean having to pay 10% of the regular $10,000 … [Read more...] about Trip Notes: Buenos Aires, Argentina

Read my trip notes from Tokyo and the way home in ANA First Class after the jump: We landed in Guam on Friday morning and went to the United Club to daven. It’s a good thing that United clubs don’t have day rooms with beds like some first class lounges have or else I’m pretty sure we couldn’t have possibly been woken up to take our flight to Tokyo. We weren’t supposed to be flying … [Read more...] about United Island Hopper Trip Notes Part 4: Tokyo, Japan And Back Home In ANA First Class

This is a long trip report but my philosophy on trip reports is to write everything on a destination in one shot as opposed to dragging it out into dozens of annoying installments. I’m always open to suggestions and criticisms though, so sound off in the comments. Posts like these take days to write so your feedback is appreciated! It’s not much of a secret that I have a bit of a love affair with the Hawaiian islands. $87 was the cost for my hotel and airfare on my first trip in 2006. I’ve been back 5 times since. In this post I’ve included activities and pictures from 5 trips to Kauai. Why go back to the same place so many times? I’ve been lucky enough to travel to many far-flung corners of the world but there’s no place where I’m in as good of a place of mind as Hawaii. The air is … [Read more...] about Trip Notes Kauai: Heaven On Earth

We knew it would be a long and exhausting day before ending in stunning Palau, but we had no idea how long it would become. My carefully crafted Dubai itinerary would have to be reworked. Upon landing I put on my Indians cap. Immigration and customs didn’t ask us a single question. They couldn’t care less about the Israeli immigration sticker on my passport either. I will admit that walking through baggage claim and seeing where other flights were coming from is a bit of a surreal experience: But the Dubai airport itself is truly stunning. It’s a shame that most US airports make such a poor first impression on visitors: Most of the advice on the … [Read more...] about Maldives Trip Notes Part 2: Dubai and Abu Dhabi
